In 2022 I started taking note of every book that I read so that I can keep track of them and remind myself of the good bits from the best books. I started out keeping track of them in notebooks but then I thought, why not make a website and share them with everyone? I had a domain name sitting around collecting dust and voila! ThinkMonk.com came to life!
I’m still not publishing as many book reviews as I had hoped but I’m at least recording each book as I finish them on the Books I have Read in 2022 here. I started out reading three books per month, then four, and settled on five. In December I was out of action with the flu and just couldn’t get into reading at all and only finished one book.
In total I read 50 books in 2022. My aim was to read mostly positive, self-improvement books as I definitely needed to work on a few things. I ended up reading about thirteen mind, body, spirit books for the year so at just over one per month, I’m happy with that.
About six books were on money and finance as that’s definitely an area I want to improve. Investing in stocks and property are both areas that I want to learn more about and I’m sure I’ll read more of these in 2023. I would like to say I’ll buy a rental property in 2023 too but my income will need to radically improve!
Ten books were biographical with billionaires, media moguls, CEOs, space barons, and criminals being among the subjects.
The most interesting topic for me this year was ancient history and aliens. I read eight books relating to UFOs or UAPs, Sumerians, Anunnaki and related topics. If I ever make it back to Istanbul I’ll have to go visit the ruins of Göbekli Tepe in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey.
The Best 5 Books of 2022
These are not necessarily books published in 2022, just books that I finished reading in 2022.
- Atomic Habits: An Easy and Proven Way to Build Good Habits and Break Bad Ones by James Clear
Definitely one of the best books that I have read on habits. Unless you’re some sort of super-freak who has everything figured out, then I definitely recommend reading Atomic Habits. - The Illusion of Us by Matthew Lacroix
Matthew is one of the more interesting researchers looking into ancient history. Check out his Youtube channel too. He’s easy to listen to as he knows his stuff but he’s also very passionate about the topic. - The Everyday Hero Manifesto by Robin Sharma
I started each day with reading a chapter of this book until I finished it. The chapters are short and packed with optimism. - The Secret Book by Rhonda Byrne
I tried reading this book when it was first released but it was too much for me. This time around I really enjoyed it as I’m looking to improve all aspects of my life. - Alien Agenda by Richard Dolan
This is an excellent summary of UFOs or UAPs.
Conclusion and Looking to 2023
I’ve really enjoyed keeping track of the books that I have read in 2022 and will make it a lifetime habit. in 2023 I’ll devote more time to this website and start posting book reviews each week like I had initially planned to do.
My goal is to average at least one book per week, so 52 for the year. I would also like to start reading some fiction books but I said that in 2022 and only managed to read one short story about a seagull (Jonathan Livingston Seagull: A Story by Richard Bach.)
