In Plain Sight: An Investigation into UFOs and Impossible Science by Ross Coulthart is a book written by an investigative journalist coming at the topic as a skeptic, or at least agnostic, and exploring it objectively like he would any other project.
Much of the book does read like the author is simply compiling information and presenting it to us as he finds it which is the job of an investigative journalist but I want more. I want personal stories, I want to feel that this is more than just an academic exercise in gathering and presenting information.
I also found the way that everything depends on the ALL POWERFUL government of the United States a little bit icky. I know that government disclosure is a central theme of the book but with all the important sounding people, government departments and alphabet soup titles that we’re meant to look up to for the truth, it just made me feel like a shower after reading some parts of the book.
Why would people who represent a psychopathic system of deception, control, and destruction care what the masses think? Politicians are puppets put in boxes and trained to lie and deceive and we’re expecting truthful disclosure? And if the US government did come clean and declared that aliens are now picnicking on the Whitehouse lawn, I would then have to rethink my thoughts on extraterrestrials or at least assume that Hollywood has taken up residence in the Whitehouse.
My default translation of anything said by any western government is the exact opposite of whatever it is saying, and then I’ll adjust it slightly one way or the other depending on what logic and feeling tells me. But the truth is always much closer to the opposite of what is being said when a politician is speaking, especially if it is speaking from a podium and there are multiple drones in the background nodding their heads in agreement with every sentence.
But I digress, I’m showing my own dislike of politicians and western democracies more than I should be. In Plain Sight is a good summary of some of the biggest developments in the UAP or UFO scene today. It’ll be interesting to see if the author returns to the UFO topic in the future. I’m currently reading one of his previous books on the Bandidos motorcycle gang in Australia, so I wonder if the extraterrestrial topic is just a passing phase or did he go too far down the rabbit hole to leave it alone?
Who is the book for?
Anyone interested in the UFO topic. It’s not a topic that decent citizens or journalists should be looking into so it deserves to be read for that reason alone. Whenever the system tells us to stay away from a topic, we should be immersing ourselves in that topic. Even if you’ve never read anything else on UFOs you’ll enjoy this book.
I’m giving In Plain Sight: An Investigation into UFOs and Impossible Science an interstellar 6 Stars out of 10. I liked the book overall but I did find myself losing interest with a couple of the chapters. I’ll be buying more books by the author if he continues to explore the topic further.

Quotes from In Plain Sight Book
Like most journalists, I’m generally reluctant to believe in coverups or conspiracies. But I believe that governments are not telling the public the full story about UAPs. What are these ‘craft’? Is the extra-terrestrial hypothesis, albeit confronting, even able to explain this high strangeness? And why are they hiding in plain sight?
Both [Louis] Elizondo and [Dr Eric] Davis have asserted that the United States is in possession of technology from non-human craft, claiming their national security oath blocks them from saying anything more. What I find almost as amazing as their assertions is how little traction their claims gained in mainstream media. Ross Coulthart
